for as long as i can remember, i have always wanted to travel to hawaii. crazy enough, we planned this trip only 4 hours before before flying out. not quite how i imagined it going, but i wouldn’t have changed a thing!

white ruffle dress, bali indonesia, jasmine elias white ruffle dress, bali indonesia, jasmine elias white ruffle dress, bali indonesia, jasmine elias white ruffle dress, bali indonesia, jasmine elias white ruffle dress, bali indonesia, jasmine elias, sunset white ruffle dress, bali indonesia, jasmine eliassome of my favorite travel moments happen when i decide to just pull over on the side of the road and explore. i felt so lucky to catch the sunset in the gorgeous palm tree field (which i am pretty sure was surrounded by a local lombark, indonesia farm). watching the sun set fire to the sky through the majestic palm branches was so incredible.

i frolicked and twirled, attempted to befriend the cows (it was major fail) and watched the sun go down in awe. shortly after the sun began to set, i realized i was twirling in little plants filled with needle-like spikes that my dress so kindly was collecting to remember the special moment. i now have ankles filled with scratches as a tiny keep-sake as well. alas, even my battle wounds couldn’t ruin such a beautiful moment.

this was my first time ever seeing cherry blossoms and i can proudly say, they live up to the hype! the trees and ground were covered with what looked like snow, but felt like spring. does it get any better than that?! simply put, cherry blossoms are magical. so magical that if you blink, you’ll miss them. the day after this photo was taken, we had one day of rain and that was sadly the end of cherry blossom season 2018. just like that, the cherry blossoms were washed off of the tree branches and onto the floor. so i’m thankful i spent the day prancing around in this gorgeous white, flowy maxi dress while staring in amazement at the wondrous cherry blossoms before mother nature swept them away.

the one question i ask myself before i buy anything is always, “is it comfortable?” let’s face it, some pieces may look beautiful and glamorous on, but if it’s not comfortable, will you actually wear it? or better yet, will you actually want to wear it?

i fell into this trap one new year’s eve when purchasing an all sequined dress. the cost was just right, and i felt like a hollywood star walking down the red carpet in it. however, was it comfy? no. i knew this, but i figured if it looks this good, then beauty is pain, right? no. beauty should not be that kind of pain.

30 minutes into the evening, i was feeling the music and letting myself dance to my hearts’ content. this lasted all of 5 minutes after my uncomfortable dress somehow turned against me. as i was moving my arms up and down to the beat of the music, it just so happens that my arms were also moving to the sharp edges of the sequins on my dress.

there are so many great cover-up options it was hard to narrow it down. so, above you will see my top 10 favorites and below you will see all the ones that came in a close second! or a close 11th…

when searching for cover-ups i always look for two things.

1 | can i get a multipurpose use out of it and wear it out while in public?

2 | is it flattering with all bikini styles?
