i had the best long weekend soaking up the sun, playing in the water and eating delicious ceviche in punta de mita, mexico. this was my first time seeing this part of mexico and i am certain it won’t be my last.
it was quiet, but lively and we lucked out with perfect weather during our stay! even though the weather forecast said 100% rain every day we were there! big thank you to you, mother nature!

we started our trip touring the property which is an instagrammers dream! every which way you turn is insta-worthy and photo perfect. next, we had a little spa time. this is where the w hotel punta de mita took my breath away. not only was the massage stellar, but the spa pools are worth the visit alone! it felt like having my own personal paradise right in the middle of a lush and beautiful jungle. after enjoying the spa pools for a little [or long while] the rain started to trickle and could not have been more perfect with the timing. the sound was so relaxing and comforting! definitely one of my top most favorite spa experiences!

after out relaxing spa time, we changed and headed to dinner. there are multiple dinner spots on the property and i recommend them all! cevicheria had the best ceviche and spice market cannot be missed!! do make a reservation at spice market ahead of time. 🙂
we ended our night with the beach vibes fashion show on the property. if you are able to make it to event next year, then i would definitely recommend it!
the next day was my absolute favorite. i got to spend the day surfing and we all know how much i LOVE surfing! it was truly a dream! the waves were large but calm so they’re great for beginners at this time of year [september]. we had private instructors that were patient and excellent teachers. they made our time so enjoyable! after our surf lesson ended, my friend amy and i decided to just stay in the water and take it all in. truly one of my favorite afternoons!
our day concluded with an epic pool party at one of the properties coolest pools! if you make it to punta de mita, you have to take a dip!

we were there for 3 full days and never left the property because well, we had no reason to! we saw epic sunsets, swam in beautiful water and ate delicious food! if you’re on the hunt for your next destination, then checking out the w hotel punta de mita in mexico is a must!

things to know before your trip
- pack sunblock and mosquito spray! there are lots of mosquitos in the area and you don’t want to them to spoil your trip
- the closest airport to fly in PVR (puerto vallarta) the drive to the property is approximately 45 minutes
- you can arrange transportation at the airport, but i highly recommend pre-arranging transportation with the hotel. this is the safest and easiest method. they can also arrange to take you back to the airport for departure.
- all outlets are the same as in the US. no adaptors are necessary.
- pack warm weather clothing as the sun gets hot in this area!
- you can go and enjoy the area year round. june through october is rainy season with less crowds.
- currency is the mexican peso. card is accepted at most places and provides the best exchange rate. us dollar is also accepted at many places, but change will most likely be given in peso.
- if you plan to leave the resort you can take a rental car or taxi. punta de mita is not a large area, but i do recommend to travel with someone if leaving the resort for maximum safety.
