summer time skin care and protection

did you know your skin is the largest organ in your body? y’all, that’s kind of a big deal. i’ve been doing more and more research lately on the harmful effects the sun has on our skin and truth be told, i spend most of my time reading while simultaneously cringing at my baby oiled, lathered up and ready to bake in my bikini high school self. [insert face palm emoji here].

i look back and think, “what was i thinking?” the most simple answer is, i wasn’t thinking. i wasn’t thinking that the skin that i care for now is the skin i will inherent as i grow older. and well, i would reallylike to leave myself a good inheritance.

at first, i started spraying sunscreen on the areas that i know would burn. you know, as protection. i then realized the error of my ways and progressed to full body sun block central when laying out. my third and final step was realizing that even when i’m out running errands, walking outside, or just grabbing some fresh air, my body is being exposed to direct sunlight and needs protection.

so, after years of denial, i’ve finally realized how important it is to make using sunblock a part of my daily routine. if i know i’ll be going outside, i make sure to protect my skin (my 50 year old self will thank me greatly).

i recently stocked up on all of my favorites at Rite Aid, where i met the sweetest cashier and found out that with every Neutrogena product purchased with SPF at any Rite Aid store, or online, Neutrogena will donate two products with SPF to Americares to support children in need! how amazing is that! this runs through September so you have plenty of time to stop by once, twice, maybe three or four times, and stock up on all your favorites! i picked up Neutrogena Beach Defense for easy spray access while at the beach

and laying by the pool, Neutrogena Clear Face to protect my face without fear of breakouts, Aveeno Positively Radiant to help hydrate and moisturize my skin, Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair Moisturizer because it’s a favorite and so easy to stash in my handbag for reapplication on the days i’m in the sun for multiple hours, and Hydro Boost Gel Moisturizer and Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen because i couldn’t leave without them.

reading all the harmful effects that sun can have on our skin is by no means going to keep me indoors and away from those beautiful rays, but i am going about it in different ways and making sure my skin is protected.

Sunscreen is so sooo important! I think we were all irresponsible in the sun when we were teens, but now I don’t leave the house without SPF! Thanks for sharing!

  2. I love that RiteAid is helping protect people with SPF in more ways than one. I love the Neutrogena Hydro Boost moisturizer, so I think I need to try that one out that has SPF in it.
